What does it mean to Draw A Door?
Ever feel stuck?
You work, you take action, and things don’t move fast enough, if they move at all. Frustration sets in. Maybe you think about giving up. That’s usually a sign you’ve hit a wall built from rules you never chose.
In case of emergency, Draw A Door
Remember the movie Beetlejuice? A newly deceased couple is stuck in their old house, trapped in the attic in front of a brick wall with no way out. On a nearby table is a handbook that says, “in case of emergency, draw a door.” So they pick up a piece of chalk and draw one. It opens into a new world.
When you get stuck, can you draw a door?
We all live by a set of mostly invisible rules that we didn’t create, didn’t agree to, and can’t see the limits of. Rules for how to do things, for how life should be, for how business should work. Our rules let us move through life smoothly, until they don’t. Then they get in the way of what matters most.
It’s as if our invisible rules build a wall. It can feel very real, and it keeps us from the goals waiting on the other side. But our “way it is” is just one possible way it is. What if a small shift in perspective could open a new path? It can.
Drawing A Door means
- Identifying the rules that constrain you
- Asking “what else is possible?” and creating a new way of thinking
- Stepping through by taking a new action, even when it takes courage
Draw a Door® Business Coaching helps you find and drop the rules that keep you from your goals, create new pathways to opportunity, and take the actions that get you there.
